Dr. David Coleman is a 2nd generation Optometrist serving the 4 States for 39 yrs. He was raised in Baxter Springs and upon graduation from high school attended Pittsburg State University for undergraduate studies. He received his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tn. returning to practice with his father Dr. Ray Coleman in 1977. While in optometry school Dr. Davidโs son was diagnosed and successfully treated for strabismus and amblyopia with Vision Therapy. In response, Dr. David established the Joplin Clinic in 1989 providing the only clinic offering the special areas of developmental optometry, vision therapy, neuro-optometry, and sports vision.
Dr. David and his wife Debbie, a now-retired pharmacist, have 3 sons and 6 grandchildren. Over the years he has served with numerous community organizations and boards. Presently he is an Elder at Riverton Friends Church. He enjoys spending time with family, hunting, and outdoor activities as well as leading eye care ministry mission trips around the world.
